We all hate the word ‘Networking,’ right? It conjures up an image of a cold, money-hungry Wall Street mogul who’ll do anything it takes to get ahead. But networking really isn’t so bad, in fact it’s very good. All networking comes down to is making connections with others, and what could be bad about that?
Networking often starts with, as Gary Hirsch so succinctly puts it in his tip, a chance meeting and then a call. Maybe you met at a networking conference, or through a friend, or on the street. However it happened, if that person seemed interested in you and what you do, then call them, connect, and get to know them better. At worst it will go nowhere, and at best it will take you places you never imagined you could go.
